Role

As a Business Development Representative (BDR) at Coast, you will be responsible for outbound lead generation, directly driving our growth by proactively sourcing prospects and building new relationships. This is an individual contributor (IC) role with a highly hands-on approach to generating leads. The BDR will collaborate closely with sales, marketing, and product teams to qualify leads and move them through the sales pipeline. There is potential for this role to grow into team management as Coast expands.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Proactively identify and research potential customers in target markets using online tools, databases and industry resources
  • Conduct outbound prospecting via cold calling, email outreach, social media and networking campaigns
  • Qualify leads and book meetings for account executives and senior sales staff
  • Maintain accurate records of lead activity, follow-ups and outcomes in CRM systems
  • Collaborate with marketing to refine outreach messaging, campaigns and identify growth opportunities
  • Gather and relay market feedback, competitor activity and potential improvements for Coast’s sales strategy
  • Represent Coast and communicate our product value proposition in a clear, compelling way
  • Build strong relationships with prospects, nurturing them towards conversion
  • Help develop playbooks, processes and best practices for outbound sales; contribute to team workflows and knowledge sharing
  • Opportunity for advancement: growing into a leadership role managing a BDR team as Coast scales
  • Some travel is potentially necessary for trade shows as well as company retreats

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in outbound sales, lead generation, business development, or similar role; SaaS/software environment preferred
  • Demonstrated success in hands-on outbound prospecting and quota attainment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to engage prospects effectively
  • Strong research skills; ability to map stakeholder decision-making structures
  • Experience with Salesforce, Outreach and Zoominfo
  • Highly self-motivated; thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Collaborative team player comfortable working cross-functionally
  • Ambitious, creative, and solution-oriented mindset
  • Bonus: Previous experience with workflow, operations, or maintenance solutions
  • Experience working in a fast-paced startup environment is highly valued; bringing firsthand knowledge of how rapid growth, ambiguity, and cross-functional collaboration drive results.

Compensation

Compensation for the Business Development Representative role includes a competitive base salary that varies depending on location and experience, along with a performance-driven commission structure. In most markets, base salaries typically range from $50,000 to $60,000, with top tier metro areas such as San Francisco and New York offering higher starting pay. In addition to your base salary, you’ll have the opportunity to earn uncapped commissions based on meeting and exceeding sales targets. On target earnings for this position are $100,000.

In addition to base salary and commission, the compensation package also includes equity, health insurance (medical, dental, vision) and a 401(k) plan with employer matching.
